Lack of equipotential bonding
Danger of explosion through compensating currents or ignition currents through lack of equipotential bonding.
• Ensure that the device is potentially equalized.
: It may be permissible to omit connection of the equipotential bonding for devices with type of protection
"Intrinsic safety Ex i".
Danger of explosion through unprotected cable ends in hazardous areas.
•
Protect unused cable ends in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-14.
Improper laying of shielded cables
Danger of explosion through compensating currents between hazardous area and the non-hazardous area.
• Only ground shielded cables that run into the hazardous area at one end.
•
If grounding is required at both ends, use an equipotential bonding conductor.
Insufficient isolation of non-intrinsically safe and intrinsically safe circuits
Danger of explosion in hazardous areas.
• When connecting intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits ensure that isolation is carried out properly in
accordance with IEC/EN 60079-14.
•
Make sure that you observe the device approvals applicable in your country.
Adjustment of transmission
Requirements
Tools used Small slotted screwdriver, blade strength < 0.5 x 3 mm, delivered with detector electronics
Multimeter or oscilloscope, both suitable for Ex-i electronics
Spare parts none
Note
Handling of delicate parts. This work requires utmost care!
The adjustment of the transmission is executed by adjusting the gain. The gain is adjusted on the sensor electronics situated
in the receiver module. The sensor electronics comprises of the detector module (see figure 1)
and the sensor board (see
figures 2 and 3 for standard and ATEX/IECEx boards respectively).
