Component Function Diagram
R/H-CPUs The CPU runs the user program.
Additional features and functions of the CPU:
• Communication via Industrial Ethernet
• Communication via PROFINET IO
• Redundant mode
• HMI communication
• Integrated system diagnostics
• Integrated protection functions (access and know-how pro
tection)
PROFINET cable You connect the CPUs and the IO devices in a PROFINET ring or
PROFINET network using PROFINET cables.
Synchronization mod
ules (for S7‑1500H)
You create 2 redundancy connections between the H-CPUs via
fiber-optic cables using a total of 4 synchronization modules (2
in each H-CPU).
The following synchronization module versions can be ordered:
• Sync module 1GB FO10m: for fiber-optic cables up to 10m
in length
• Sync module 1GB FO10km: for fiber-optic cables up to
10km in length
• Sync module 1GB FO40km: for fiber-optic cables up to
40km in length
Fiber-optic cable (for
S7‑1500H)
They connect the 2 synchronization modules per CPU in pairs via
a fiber-optic cable. The following lengths of fiber-optic cables
can be ordered:
• 1m
• 2m
• 10m
• Up to 40km (additional information on fiber-optic cables in
longer versions can be found in the Industry Mall
(https://mall.industry.siemens.com).
4-pin connection plug
for CPU supply voltage
The 4-pin connection plug provides the supply voltage.
Load current supply
(PM)
The load current supply (PM) supplies the central modules (CPU)
with 24VDC.
If you are using load current supplies, we recommend the
devices from the SIMATIC series. These devices can be mounted
on the mounting rail.
Various models of load current supply are available:
• PM70W120/230VAC
• PM190W120/230VAC
