13.2 Using single-channel, one-sided I/Os
What is single-channel one-sided I/O?
In the single-channel one-sided configuration, the input/output modules exist only once
(single-channel). The I/O modules are located in only one subsystem, and are only
addressed by this subsystem.
A single-channel one-sided I/O configuration is possible in the following devices:
Central and expansion devices
Distributed I/O devices at the PROFIBUS DP interface
Distributed I/O devices at the PROFINET interface
A configuration with single-channel one-sided I/O is useful for single I/O channels up to
system components which only require standard availability.
