Overview

This document is a user manual for the Simpson EZI sensor top-loading washing machine, covering models 955, 605, 902, 802, and 552. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, emphasizing water-saving technologies and proper detergent use.

Function Description:

The Simpson EZI sensor washing machine is a top-loading appliance designed to efficiently clean clothes using advanced water-saving technologies. It features a control panel with various settings for wash programs, water temperature, wash choice (wash time), and water level. The machine incorporates a recirculation system and an Eco rinse option to minimize water consumption. A lid lock feature ensures safety during operation, particularly during spin cycles. The digital display (on models 955 & 605) and indicator lights provide feedback on the wash program's progress, remaining time, and any diagnostic codes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Water Saving Technology: Utilizes a recirculation system and Eco rinse.
    • Recirculation: Pumps excess water from the outer bowl into the inner washbowl, maintaining correct water levels and saving 33% of wash and deep rinse water. The pump cycles 'ON' and 'OFF' and continues for 10 seconds if the lid is opened.
    • Eco Rinse: Sprays water on clothes, spins it out, and repeats this sequence four times, saving 75% of the deep rinse water compared to traditional top-load agitator machines.
  • Water Consumption:
    • New washer technology (recirculation active, eco rinse): 10.2 L/kg
    • Recirculation active, deep rinse: 14.7 L/kg
    • Traditional top loader (recirculation wash): 22 L/kg (Litres/kg at kilogram rated capacity as tested to AS2040)
  • Detergent Recommendation: Specifically designed for low sudsing detergents suitable for front loaders or high-efficiency (HE) washers, such as "Cold Power for Front Loaders" or detergents labeled "Matic."
  • Water Temperature: Selectable options include Hot, Warm, and Cold. Warm water is recommended at 35°C, adjustable via water supply flow rates. Components are designed for water no hotter than 70°C.
  • Water Level: Features an "Auto-Level" sensing option that determines the optimal water amount for the load, and manual water level selections (X-High, High, Med, Low, X-Low depending on model).
  • Out of Balance Detection: The machine can detect and interrupt spin cycles if an out-of-balance condition occurs, indicated by 'ob' on digital displays (955 & 605) or flashing WATER TEMP lights (other models) and beeping.
  • Soak Period: Heavy Duty program includes a 6-minute built-in soak period.
  • Drain + Spin Program: Includes an approximate 5-minute pump-out period before spinning to ensure the bowl is empty.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel:
    • Power Button: Switches the machine on/off.
    • Program Selector Knob: Selects from various wash programs (Heavy Duty, Normal/Heavy, Normal, Colours, Delicates, Woollens, Drip Dry, Rinse + Spin, Drain + Spin).
    • Start/Pause Button: Initiates, pauses, or resumes a wash program. Also used to advance to the next stage of a wash program by holding it down.
    • Wash Choice Button: Adjusts wash time (Extra Dirty, Regular, Light & Fast).
    • Water Temperature Button: Sets the wash water temperature.
    • Water Level Knob: Selects Auto-Level or manual water levels.
    • Deep Rinse Button (Models 955 & 605): Selects/deselects the deep rinse option.
  • Digital Display (Models 955 & 605): Shows program times, diagnostic codes, and other modes.
  • Progress Indicator Lights: Indicate the current stage of the wash program (Wash, Rinse, Spin).
  • Lid Lock Feature: Engages during spin cycles for safety, preventing the lid from being opened. The "Lid Locked" indicator light shows its status. The lid unlocks automatically when safe to open.
  • Customizing Auto-Level: Users can adjust the factory-set Auto-Level by a small amount (20mm higher or lower) through a specific programming mode.
  • End of Program Beep: Can be switched on or off through a programming mode.
  • Detergent and Additive Dispensing: Instructions for adding pre-mixed low sudsing detergent, fabric softener (mixed with warm water and poured into the agitator cup), and bleach (oxygen or chlorine type, poured into the bleach hole).
  • Loading Instructions: Emphasizes even loading around the agitator, avoiding wrapping clothes, not overloading, and mixing large and small items for best results.
  • Pre-treatment: Advises applying pre-treatment sprays and stain removers away from plastic components of the machine.

Maintenance Features:

  • After Each Wash:
    • Switch off power and water taps.
    • Leave lid open to allow moisture to evaporate and prevent odors.
    • Clean the lint filter.
  • Cleaning the Lint Filter:
    1. Remove softener dispenser cup and filter column from the agitator.
    2. Unclip the filter bag from the column.
    3. Turn the bag inside out and remove lint.
    4. Wash the filter bag and dispenser cup in hot water.
    5. Reassemble.
  • Cleaning the Washing Machine (Inside and Outside):
    • Wipe surfaces with mild dishwashing detergent and warm water, then dry with a soft cloth.
    • Caution: Avoid solvents, aerosol cleaners, spray pack cleaners, glass cleaners, metal polishes, caustic materials, scourers, or general household cleaners on or near the top panel, lid, or control panel.
  • Removing the Lid for Cleaning:
    1. Hold lid vertically.
    2. Lift the right-hand end and move the lid to the right to disengage the hinge.
    3. To replace, insert the left-hand hinge into its hole, then the right-hand hinge into its slot.
  • Cleaning Stains in the Washbowl:
    • Stains can be caused by metal objects, salt, body oils/grease, or excessive foam.
    • Clean stainless steel washbowl with products suitable for stainless steel or mild dishwashing detergent and warm water for oily deposits.
    • Caution: Never use bleach cleaners or steel wool on the stainless steel washbowl.
  • Clearing Build-up of Undissolved Detergents:
    • To prevent spotting on clothes from cold water washes, avoid excessive fabric softener, select a hot water wash at least once a month, and always dissolve detergent in warm water.
    • To clear existing build-up: Run a "Delicates" program with "Light & Fast" wash choice, "Hot" water temp, "Med" water level, and "Deep rinse," adding 250g of Epsom Salts. Pause after 1 minute of agitation, soak for 3 hours, then restart to complete the program.
