Activating Your Video Port
Most computers automatically adjust the display when you connect an external video source.
Your image will project onto the SMART Board interactive whiteboard immediately. However,
some external computers don't automatically make this adjustment. You may need to do one
of the following:
•
activate the external video port
•
de-activate the internal video port
•
put the internal and external video ports into simultaneous display mode
You may need to switch between internal and external ports of an older laptop computer using
a Function key. If you aren’t sure which commands or keyboard combinations are required for
switching between the internal and external video ports, consult your laptop owner’s manual.
NOTE:
Macintosh laptop computers synchronize video ports automatically.
To synchronize a video port on an external computer using the Windows
operating system:
1
Click
Start
, point to
Settings
, click
Control Panel
and double-click
Display
.
2
Select the Refresh (or Monitor Refresh) tab.
NOTE:
Depending on your operating system, you might have to press the Advanced
button on the Settings tab to access this information.
3
Click the
CRT/Panel
option to activate simultaneous monitor and external video port
display. This allows your image to appear on both your monitor and the SMART Board
interactive whiteboard.
