8.8 Set point
This is the point from which the control band is generated.
It is commonly set half way between the minimum and maximum gauge
glass levels, though this is not essential:-
8.9 Control band
This is the proportional band for a modulating control system, or the open / closed
switching points for an on/off system. Its central point is always the 'SET POINT'.
When the water level is at the top of the control band, the feedwater valve is fully
closed, and when the water level is at the bottom of the band, the valve is fully open.
Note:- Because the controller has some integral action in 'Proportional' control,
the actual position of the valve may not always correspond with the level in the
gauge glass.
The LC2610 measures the height of any waves in the boiler automatically and
compensates for their action.
If possible, follow the boiler manufacturers advice on these levels. If not, a
setting of about 15 % is a good starting point for many boilers:-
