Installing / Replacing the Batteries
This device is powered by 2 AA batteries.
The battery status can be checked by looking at the icon on the display as follows:
Battery has 100% of its energy.
Battery has approximately 60% of its energy.
Battery has approximately 25% of its energy.
Battery has less than 5% of its energy. Replace the batteries by following the procedure below.
Be careful! Make sure that the instrument is switched off before any maintenance or replacement of batteries.
If the instrument is not used for more than two weeks, remove the batteries and store them in a dry place away from direct
sunlight.
- Remove the battery cover;
- Replace the batteries, observing the polarity;
- Replace the compartment cover;
- Always use new batteries;
- Never mix new batteries with old ones; this will affect the performance of the instrument.

Turning the Instrument On and Off
Install the batteries that come with the instrument. See the item "Installing/Replacing the batteries."
To turn on the LMXP-100 STARRETT laser distance meter, press the button once. After that, the instrument will
conduct some internal checks for a few seconds, and then it will show the screen to begin measurement.
ATTENTION
When turning on the instrument, the laser will be turned on automatically and will remain turned on for a few
moments. Never look directly into the laser beam and do not point it towards the eyes of other people.
To turn off the instrument, press the button for three seconds on any screen.
Activating / Deactivating the Laser
The STARRETT LMXP-100 laser can be set to always on or stay on hold, for this, press the button for three
seconds and the laser indicator will indicate the status.

Display Light
The STARRETT LMXP-100 has lighting on the display. To turn the lighting on or off, press the button and hold it for 2
seconds.
