Quality Assurance Operator Manual T6800 Rev B
SYSTEM 1 endo Liquid Chemical Sterilant Processing System
8-7
The purpose of the DIAGNOSTIC cycle is to ensure that the electro-mechanical
systems of the Processor are functioning correctly. The cycle consists of a series
of internal tests which are performed sequentially.
Successful completion of a DIAGNOSTIC cycle assures the operator that
the Processor will operate as designed for the liquid chemical sterilization
of medical devices.
Failure of a DIAGNOSTIC cycle tells the operator that the Processor must
not be used until the problem is corrected and a successful DIAGNOSTIC
cycle is run. Once a DIAGNOSTIC cycle fails, a liquid chemical sterilization
cycle cannot be performed until a DIAGNOSTIC cycle passes.
STERIS recommends running a DIAGNOSTIC cycle once every 24 hours.
Length of cycle: approximately 19 minutes.
