15.10 Topping up engine oil
● Open the engine hood. (Ö 15.3)
● Check the engine oil filling 
level. (Ö 15.8)
● Top up the engine oil as per the engine 
instruction manual – use a suitable 
funnel.
● Close the engine hood. (Ö 15.4)
15.11 Checking the safety devices
Checking the brake switch:
● Sit on the driver's seat.
● Stop the engine and allow it to come to 
a standstill. (Ö 13.3)
● Release the parking brake and do not 
actuate the brake pedal.
● Turn the ignition key to the "start 
engine" position. (Ö 8.1)
The engine cannot be started when the 
brake switch is functioning correctly.
Checking the seat switch:
● Sit on the driver's seat.
● Start the engine (Ö 13.2) and allow it to 
run at maximum speed. 
(Ö 8.2), (Ö 8.3)
● Engage the mowing deck. 
(Ö 8.5), (Ö 8.6)
● Relieve the weight on the driver's seat 
by standing up slowly and carefully. Do 
not dismount!
The engine will be switched off if the 
seat switch is functioning.
Checking the grass catcher box switch:
● Sit on the driver's seat.
● Start the engine (Ö 13.2) and allow it to 
run at maximum speed. 
(Ö 8.2), (Ö 8.3)
● Engage the mowing deck. 
(Ö 8.5), (Ö 8.6)
● From the driver's seat, tilt (empty) the 
grass catcher box upwards using the 
grass catcher box emptying lever. 
(Ö 13.9)
The engine will be switched off and the 
mowing deck disengaged if the grass 
catcher box switch is functioning.
Checking the discharge chute switch:
● Remove the discharge chute (Ö 15.5) 
and then attach the grass catcher box 
again. (Ö 13.10)
● Sit on the driver's seat.
● Press the brake pedal to the stop and 
hold. (Ö 8.13)
● Turn the ignition key to the "start 
engine" position. (Ö 8.1)
The engine cannot be started when the 
discharge chute switch is functioning 
correctly.
Checking the reverse mowing safety 
switch:
● Sit on the driver's seat – do not press 
the reverse mowing safety switch.
● Start the engine (Ö 13.2) and allow it to 
run at maximum speed. 
(Ö 8.2), (Ö 8.3)
● Engage the mowing deck. 
(Ö 8.5), (Ö 8.6)
● Select reverse driving direction and 
drive off. (Ö 8.9)
If the reverse mowing safety switch is 
functioning, the mowing deck will be 
disengaged after 1 second.
15.12 Cleaning the level sensor (grass 
catcher box)
The level sensor (grass catcher box) may 
become soiled when mowing wet or moist 
grass. This results in impaired function.
By way of prevention, clean the level 
sensor following each mowing operation or 
each time the discharge chute is cleaned.
● Stop the engine. (Ö 13.3)
● Remove the ignition key and keep it in a 
safe place.
● Engage the parking brake. (Ö 8.14)
● Remove the grass catcher box. 
(Ö 13.10)
Avoid damage to the machine.
Avoid exceeding and falling below 
the correct engine oil level.
Risk of injury!
The safety devices must only be 
checked from the driver's seat. 
No persons, particularly children, or 
animals must be in the vicinity.
Proper functioning of the safety 
devices must be checked at least 
once a month. 
Following longer periods without 
use, for low-use machines or after 
repairs, always check all safety 
devices before using again.
