2. Operation overview
Two operating modes are possible, VFO (frequency) and CHANNEL which is selected by the
+10kHz switch. The selected operating mode is briefly displayed on the frequency display
when the switch is changed. The correct channel and band is displayed automatically as the
frequency is changed making identification of the frequency simple. The current channel or
frequency is stored so for example you can have VFO mode on 27.555 and CHANNEL mode
on ch19 UK.
2.1 VFO (frequency) mode
VFO (frequency) mode allows full frequency range tuning by variable steps of 100kHz to
10Hz. When VFO mode is selected the frequency step indicator is shown under the currently
selected digit in the OLED.
Note: In the VFO mode the band selector and coarse tune do not operate.
2.1.1 Changing the programmable frequency step
The programmable frequency step can be changed by pressing the channel selector and
observing the tuning step indicator. This method is similar in operation to the President Lincoln
MK1 radio and allows accurate control. Frequency steps are as follows:
Note that both 5kHz and 1kHz steps show the tuning step indicator below the
1kHz digit but the small indicator is slightly thicker on 5kHz!
