3.4 Chassis Components
This section provides instructions on installing and replacing system components. To assure
Storage Drives
The system supports up to twelve 3.5" (tool-less) or 2.5" (screw) hot-swap drives in front drive
(bays 0-3). An optional SAS controller card kit is required to support SAS and an optional
NVMe controller card kit is required to support more than four NVMe drives.
The drives are mounted in tool-less drive carriers that simplify their removal from the chassis.

Note: Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro servers. For
compatible storage drives, see the AS -2024S-TR server web page.
