Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation
DIMM Installation
1. Follow the instructions given in the
memory population guidelines listed in
the previous sections to install memory
modules on your motherboard. For the
system to work properly, please use
memory modules of the same type and
speed on the motherboard. (See the Note
below.)
2. Push the release tabs outwards on both
ends of the DIMM slot to unlock it.
3. Align the key of the DIMM module with the
receptive point on the memory slot.
4. Align the notches on both ends of the
module against the receptive points on the
ends of the slot.
5. Use two thumbs together to press the
DIMM module straight down into the slot
until the module snaps into place.
6. Press the release tabs to the lock positions
to secure the DIMM module into the slot.

DIMM Module Removal
Press the release tabs on both ends of the DIMM socket to release the DIMM module from
the socket as shown in the drawing on the right.
Warning! 1. T to avoid damage to the DIMM module or the DIMM socket, do not use excessive
force when pressing the release tabs on the ends of the DIMM socket. 2. Handle DIMM
modules with care. Carefully follow all the instructions given in Section 1 of this user guide to
avoid ESD-related damage to your components or system. 3. All graphics, including the layout
drawing above, are for reference only. Your system components may or may not look the same
as shown in this user guide.
