5. Thereafter if oil flows out when
the oil check bolt 1 is
removed, the oil level is appro-
priate.
6. If oil is excessive, let oil flows
out of the oil level hole.
7. If oil still does not come out,
tighten the oil check bolt 1,
remove the filler cap 2 and
pour an adequate amount of
recommended oil.
8. Repeat the above-mentioned
procedure.
9. Tighten the oil check bolt 1.
Oil check bolt:
5.5 N·m (0.56 kgf-m, 4.05 lbf-ft)
ENGINE OIL AND FILTER
CHANGE
Change the engine oil and oil filter
at the scheduled times. The oil
should be changed when the
engine is warm so that the oil will
drain thoroughly from the engine.
The procedure is as follows:
1. Place the motorcycle on the
side stand.
2. Start the engine and run it for
a few minutes.
3. Remove the left front protector
1.
4. Remove the oil filler cap 2.
5. Remove the protector under
the engine. Place a drain pan
under the drain plug.
CAUTION
Hot engine oil and exhaust
pipes can burn you.
Wait until the oil drain plug and
exhaust pipes are cool enough
to touch with bare hands
before draining oil.
