2.4 Avoiding infections
2.5 Maintenance
• When performing any task on the instrument, such as testing, maintenance, preparation, or post
processing, be sure to wear adequate personal protective equipment, such as protective gloves, a
protective mask, protective eyewear, and a lab coat. When finished, wash your hands with a disinfectant.
There is a risk of pathogen infection.
• Never touch waste, or parts that have come in contact with waste, with your bare hands.
If you inadvertently come in contact with potentially infective materials or surfaces, immediately rinse
your skin off with a large volume of water, then follow your laboratory's prescribed cleaning and
decontamination procedures.
• Take appropriate care in handling samples and quality control materials. If something should get in your
eyes or an open wound, rinse it off with a large volume of water and immediately contact your physician.

inspection/maintenance/cleaning work on the instrument. When finished, wash your hands with a
disinfectant.

When performing maintenance, use only the tools specially authorized by Sysmex.
