For better improvement on battery life and performance, user should execute equalization at least
every month for heavily used battery, and execute equalization every 2-3 months for light service
battery. At same time, standard procedure should be followed as below:
Procedure:
Step 1: Check or consult battery supplier if battery is suitable for equalization.
Step 2: Before start, turn off or disconnect all loads on battery.
Step 3: If needed, set up equalization voltage, max equalization time with PC through Rapconfig
software (through connection of RS485-USB converter). The default setting of max
equalization time is 30 minutes.
Step 4: Enable equalization through LCD interface.
Step 5: Energier Apollo will start a routine charging cycle (bulk-absorption-equalization-float-recycle),
afterwards of which it will raise the voltage to equalization level on purpose.
Step 6: During equalization, the battery generates potentially flammable gases. Follow all the battery
safety precautions listed in this guide. Ventilate the area around the battery thoroughly and
ensure that there are no sources of flame or sparks in the vicinity.
Step 7: Equalization can damage your batteries if it is not performed properly. Always check battery
fluid before and after equalization. Fill batteries only with distilled water.
