This document is a user manual for TEFCOLD SFI-Series Supermarket Type Freezers and Fridges, including models SFI145-Series, SFI185-Series, SFI210-Series, and SFI250-Series. It provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of these commercial refrigeration units.

Function Description

The TEFCOLD SFI-Series devices are supermarket-type freezers and fridges designed for commercial use in indoor environments such as supermarkets. These units are capable of operating in three different modes: freezer, meat mode, and cooler, offering versatility for various product storage needs. The primary function is to maintain specific temperature conditions to preserve food products. The devices feature sliding glass lids for easy access and display, internal separators, and a control board for temperature adjustments.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: The device operates with 220-240V/50-60 Hz or 110-127/60 Hz alternating current. Users must verify this value from the label at the back of the device (Image J).
  • Refrigerant: R290 refrigerant fluids are used in the manufacturing of SFI equipment. R290 is an environment-friendly but flammable fluid.
  • Room Size Requirement: The room where the equipment is used must be at least 1 m³ for each 8g of refrigerant. The amount of refrigerant is specified on the label on the bottom left part of the cabin (Image J).
  • Ventilation: A minimum distance of 150 mm must be maintained between the device's ventilating slits and the wall to ensure proper air circulation.
  • Adjustable Stays: The device features adjustable stays that can be raised up to 13 mm to balance the unit (Image C).
  • Loading Capacity: Products loaded into the equipment must be kept below the loading line (Image I). The maximum loading for each type of shelf is 45kg.
  • Climate Class: Designed for Climate Class 3 (25°C – 60% R.H.) environments according to EN 23953-2.

Usage Features

The SFI-Series devices offer several features to facilitate user interaction and ensure optimal performance:

  • Thermostat Adjustments: The manual details adjustments for various thermostat models:
    • EWPLUS 978: This thermostat supports Freezer, Meat Mode, and Cooler modes.
      • Set Temperature: Press the [SET] key to display and change the setpoint value using the [▲] and [▼] keys.
      • Automatic Defrost: The device is programmed for automatic defrost, which occurs when the compressor is working.
      • Manual Defrost: Hold down the [▲] key for longer than 5 seconds to initiate manual defrost, provided temperature conditions are met.
    • EWPLUS 971: Used for freezer models without defrost.
      • Set Temperature: Similar to EWPLUS 978, use the [SET] key and [▲]/[▼] keys to adjust the setpoint.
    • AKCC 210:
      • Set Temperature: Push the middle button to show the temperature, then use the upper or lower buttons to select a new value.
      • Manual Defrost: Push the lower button for four seconds.
      • Alarm Relay/Receipt Alarm: Push the upper button to acknowledge alarms or scan the rolling stack of alarm codes.
    • ERC 112D:
      • Set Temperature: Push the [▲] or [▼] key until the temperature value is shown.
      • Manual Defrost: Push the [defrost symbol] key.
    • CRA:
      • Set Temperature: Press the [SET 4s] key to display and change the control setpoint using the [^] and [FNC] keys.
      • Manual Defrost: Hold down the [^] key for 5 seconds on the thermostat.
  • Standby Mode: The device can be put into standby mode.
  • Energy-Saving Mode: Available on some thermostat models.
  • Internal Lighting: The device includes internal lighting, which can be turned on/off (EWPLUS 978).
  • Multiple Device Use:
    • Stand Alone Use: Maintain at least 150 mm distance from the wall at the back.
    • Single Line Array: No air gap is necessary between side-by-side units, but 150 mm distance from the wall at the back is required.
    • Successive Array: Special profiles and lids must be used to ensure at least 150 mm distance between back-to-back units.
    • Head Fridge and Island Array: No air gaps are necessary between head fridges and other fridges in an island group.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • External Cleaning: Use a cotton cloth and warm water. Avoid chemical cleaners on plastic components.
    • Glass Lids: Clean with a soft cloth and a low-E glass cleaning solution. Avoid hard or sharp objects.
    • Drain Pipe: Add 200-250 ml of water into the drain pipe before starting the device (Image K).
    • Seals: Keep the lid seals clean to prevent damage.
  • Defrosting: Manual defrosting is recommended if frost deposit is observed or after continuous loading (Chapter 5.1).
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a table of common malfunctions, possible reasons, and solutions, including:
    • Device not working: Check plug, electricity, and operating cable.
    • Compressor always working: Check lid closure and loading capacity.
    • Device not freezing/cooling: Check ventilation, heat sources, and thermostat.
    • Internal lighting not working: Contact authorized personnel if LED is malfunctioned.
    • Device making noise: Check balance of stays and contact with other objects.
    • Device giving off odor: Check product placement and packaging.
    • Water leaking: Check evaporation cup and evacuation pipe.
    • Frost formation: Ensure the lid is not opened too frequently.
  • Authorized Service: Maintenance, repair, and spare parts operations must be carried out by authorized personnel. Only original spare parts provided by the manufacturer should be used.
  • Waste Disposal: The equipment is compatible with WEEE regulations and should be recycled by licensed companies or disposed of environmentally. Users are instructed to unplug the device, cut the electric cable, and contact their municipality for collection points.
