CLEANING THE SAND FILTER
The sand lter consists in a bed of micropearl quartz sand.
During operation, organic impurities suspended in the pool water are trapped by the sand medium as the
stream passes through the lter.
The design of the lter guarantees uniform distribution of the water passing through the sand bed,
preventing any tendency to form localized channels that would signicantly reduce the ltering capacity
of the medium.
When a new system is started up for the rst time,
make a note of the lter pressure gauge reading.
The sand in the lter is cleaned by backwashing:
• when the pressure indicated by the gauge
exceeds the value rst recorded (newly installed
system) by 0.5 bar
• whenever pressure reaches 1.5 bar, in any
circumstances.
• Position the selector valve on “backwash”
and run the pump in “MAN” for 1 minute
approximately. Check the state of the water
by inspecting through the sight glass on the
selector valve.
• Position the selector valve on “rinse” and run the
pump in “MAN” for 30 seconds approximately.
This step serves to resettle the sand bed after
backwashing.
• Return the valve to the “lter” position and
start the pump in “MAN”. Backwashing uses a
considerable amount of water from the overow
tank. If the backwash procedure stops as a
result of there being insufcient water in the
tank, wait a few minutes for the system to make
up the level (solenoid valve opens automatically
to allow water in).
