Replacethesparkplugsafterevery800operatinghours
oryearly,whicheveroccursrst.

AirGap:0.030in.(0.76mm)
Note:Thesparkplugusuallylastsalongtime;however,
theplugshouldberemovedandcheckedwheneverthe
enginemalfunctions.
1.Cleantheareaaroundthesparkplugssothatforeign
mattercannotfallintothecylinderwhenthespark
plugisremoved.
2.Pullthesparkplugwiresoffofthesparkplugsand
removetheplugsfromthecylinderhead.
3.Checktheconditionofthesideelectrode,center
electrode,andcenterelectrodeinsulatortoensure
thatthereisnodamage.
Important:Acracked,fouled,dirty,or
otherwisemalfunctioningsparkplugmustbe
replaced.Donotsand-blast,scrape,orclean
theelectrodesbyusingawirebrushbecause
gritmayeventuallyreleasefromtheplugand
fallintothecylinder.Theresultisusuallya
damagedengine.
4.Settheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideofthe
electrodesat0.030in.(0.76mm)(
Figure18).Install
thecorrectlygappedsparkplugwithgasketseal,and
tightentheplugto200in-lb(23Nm).Ifatorque
wrenchisnotused,tightentheplugrmly.
