movethemforwarduntiltheyareintheDriveposition

StartingandStoppingthe
Engine
StartingtheEngine
1.Connectthewirestothesparkplugs.
2.Openthefuelvalve.
3.Disengagetheblade-control(PTO)leverandmovethe
shiftlevertotheNeutralposition.
4.Settheparkingbrakes.
5.TurntheignitionkeytotheRunposition(Figure8).
6.Tostartacoldengine,movethethrottlecontrol
midwaybetweentheFastandSlowpositions.
7.Tostartawarmengine,movethethrottlecontrolto
theFastposition.
8.Pullthechokeknobiftheengineiscold(Figure8).
Note:Awarmorhotengineusuallydoesnotrequire
anychoking.
9.Grasptherecoil-starthandlermlyandpullitout
untilpositiveengagementresults;thenpullthehandle
vigorouslytostarttheengine.
Note:Allowtheropetorecoilslowly.
Important:Donotpulltherecoilropetoitslimit
orreleasethestarterhandlewhenyoupullout
theropebecausetheropemaybreakortherecoil
assemblymaybedamaged.
10.PushthechoketotheOffpositionastheengine
warmsup.
11.Iftheengineiscold,allowittowarmupandthen
movethethrottlecontroltotheFastposition.
StoppingtheEngine
Important:Inanemergency,youcanstoptheengine
immediatelybyturningtheignitionkeytotheOff
position.
1.Movethethrottlelevertotheslowposition(Figure8).
Note:Iftheenginehasbeenworkinghardorishot,
letitidleforaminutebeforestoppingittohelpcoolit.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOffposition.
3.Settheparkingbrakesandremovethekey.
4.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugtoprevent
someonefromaccidentallystartingthemachinewhile
transportingorstoringit.
5.Closethefuel-shutoffvalvebeforetransportingor
storingthemachine.
Important:Closethefuel-shutoffvalvebefore
transportingorthestoringthemachine,toprevent
fuelleakage.
