1.Disengagethepowertake-off(PTO),settheparking
brake,turntheignitionkeytotheOffposition,and
removethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideofthe
enginecylinder-headnsandtheblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithmild
detergentandwater.Donotpressure-washthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
neartheshift-leverplateandtheengine.
3.Checkthebrake;refertoCheckingtheBrakes(page
31).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page25).
5.Greasethemachine;refertoLubricatingtheMachine
(page24).
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoChangingtheEngine
Oil(page26).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page30).
8.Forlong-termstorage:
A.Addstabilizer/conditioneradditivetofuelinthe
tank.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthefuel
tank;refertoDrainingtheFuelTank(page28),
orruntheengineuntilitstops.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.Repeat
theprocess,withthechokeon,untiltheengine
willnotstart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleitaccordingto
localcodes.
Note:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
9.Removeandchecktheconditionofthesparkplug(s);
refertoServicingtheSparkPlugs(page27).
10.Withthesparkplug(s)removedfromtheengine,pour
2tablespoonsofengineoilintothespark-plughole.
11.Usethestartertocranktheengineanddistributethe
oilinsidethecylinder.
12.Installthesparkplug(s),butdonotinstallthewireon
thesparkplug(s).
13.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamagedorworn.
14.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaceswithpaint
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
15.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
inamemorableplace.Coverthemachinetoprotect
itandkeepitclean.
