Beforeeachuse,checkthebrakesonbothalevelsurfaceand
aslope.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakewhenyoustopthemachineor
leaveitunattended.Iftheparkingbrakedoesnotholdthe
machinesecurely,adjustit.
CheckingtheBrakes
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade-control(PTO)lever.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Applytheparkingbrakes.
Note:Thewheelsmustlockwhenyoutrytopush
themachineforward.
4.Ifthewheelsdonotlock,adjustthebrakes;referto
AdjustingtheBrakes(page31).
5.Releasethebrakesandmovetheneutral/brakelocksto
theNeutralposition.
Note:Thewheelsshouldrotatefreely;iftheydonot,
refertoAdjustingtheBrakes(page31).
AdjustingtheBrakes
Iftheparkingbrakesdonotholdsecurely,adjustthem.
1.Checkthebrakesbeforeyouadjustthem;referto
CheckingtheBrakes(page31).
2.Releasetheparkingbrakes;refertoReleasingthe
ParkingBrakes(page15).
3.Toadjustthebrakes,rotatethewingnutsonthebrake
rods(Figure36).
Note:Rotatethewingnutsclockwisetotightenthe
brakes;rotatethemcounterclockwisetoloosenthem.

4.Positionthewingnutssothatthebrakesengagewhen
yousqueezethedriveleversenoughtoplacethe
neutral/parkingbrakelocksforward,andthensetthe
brakes.

therearwheelsshouldrotatefreelywhenyoupush
