UnderstandingtheSafetyInterlock
System
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventtheengine
fromstartingunless:
•Youaresittingontheseatortheparkingbrakeisengaged.
•Thepowertake-off(PTO)isdisengaged.
•Thetractionpedalisintheneutralposition
•Theenginetemperatureisbelowthemaximumoperating
temperature.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemalsoisdesignedtostoptheengine
whenthetractionpedalismovedfromtheneutralposition
withtheparkingbrakeengaged.Ifyourisefromtheseat
whenthePTOisengagedthereisa1-seconddelayandthen
theenginestops.
TestingtheSafetyInterlockSystem
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethemachine
eachtime.Ifthesafetysystemdoesnotoperateasdescribed
below,haveanAuthorizedServiceDealerrepairthesafety
systemimmediately.
1.Sittingontheseat,engagetheparkingbrakeandmove
thePTOtoon.Starttheengine;theengineshould
notcrank.
2.Sittingontheseat,engagetheparkingbrakeandmove
thePTOtooff.Engagethetractionpedal.Startthe
engine;theengineshouldnotcrank.
3.Sittingontheseat,engagetheparkingbrake,move
thePTOswitchtooffandallowthetractionpedal
toreturntotheneutralposition.Starttheengine.
Whiletheengineisrunning,releasetheparkingbrake,
engagethePTOandriseslightlyfromtheseat.On
2-wheeldrivemachines,theengineshouldstopwithin
2seconds.On4-wheeldrivemachines,themower
deckshutsoffandtheenginecontinuestorun.
4.Withoutanoperatorontheseat,engagetheparking
brake,movethePTOswitchtooff,andmovethe
tractionpedaltotheNeutralposition.Starttheengine.
Whiletheengineisrunning,engagethetractionpedal;
theengineshouldstopwithin2seconds.
5.Withoutanoperatorontheseat,disengagetheparking
brake,movethePTOswitchtooff,andallowthe
tractionpedaltoreturntotheMeutralposition.Try
startingtheengine;theengineshouldnotcrank.
