1.Openthehoodandsecuretheproprod.
2.Checkthetensionofthealternatorbeltbydepressing
it(Figure43)midwaybetweenthealternatorandthe
crankshaftpulleyswith10kg(22lb)offorce.
Note:Thebeltshoulddeect11mm(7/16inch).If
thedeectionisincorrect,proceedtostep3.Ifcorrect,
continueoperation

(Figure43),andthealternatorpivotbolt.
4.Insertaprybarbetweenthealternatorandtheengine
andpryoutonthealternator.
5.Whenyouachievethepropertension,tighten
thealternator,braceandpivotboltstosecurethe
adjustment.

AdjustingtheTractionDrive
forNeutral
Note:Ifthemachinehasrecentlyhadthehydraulicoil
changedorthetractionmotorsorhosesreplaced,anyair
trappedinthesystemwillhavetobeworkedoutpriorto
performingthisprocedure.Thiscanbeaccomplishedby
operatingthemachineinforwardandreverseforafew
minutesandthenreplenishingtheoilasrequired.
Whenpositionedonalevelsurface,themachinemustnot
creepwhenthetractionpedalisreleased.Ifitdoescreep,
adjustitasfollows:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
andlowerthecuttingunittotheoor.
2.Jackuptherearofthemachineuntilthereartiresare
offtheshopoor.Supportthemachinewithjack
standstopreventitfromfallingaccidentally.
Note:On4-wheel-drivemodels,thefronttiresmust
alsobeofftheshopoorandsupportedbyjackstands.
WARNING
Theenginemustberunningsothis
adjustmentcanbeperformed.Thiscould
causepersonalinjury.
Keephands,feet,face,andotherbodyparts
awayfromanyhotpartsoftheengineandany
rotatingparts.
3.Starttheengine,setthethrottletotheSlowposition
andobservewhichdirectionthereartiresrotate.
Important:Makesurethatthetractionpedalis
intheNeutralposition.
Iftheleftreartireisrotating,loosenthejamnuts
ontheleftsidetransmissioncontrolrod(Figure
44).
Note:Theforwardendofthecontrolrodhasa
lefthandthread.Therearendoftherod,whichis
connectedtothetransmission,hasarightthread.
