air(40psi,cleananddry)tohelpremovelarge
accumulationsofdebrispackedbetweenoutsideofthe
lterandthecanister.
Important:Avoidusinghighpressureair,which
couldforcedirtthroughthelterintotheintake
tract.
Note:Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrom
migratingintotheintakewhenthelterisremoved.
3.Removeandreplacethelter.
Note:Cleaningoftheusedelementisnot
recommendedduetothepossibilityofdamagetothe
ltermedia.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage,
checkingthesealingendofthelterandthebody.Do
notuseadamagedelement.Insertthenewlterby
applyingpressuretotheouterrimoftheelementto
seatitinthecanister.Donotapplypressuretothe
exiblecenterofthelter.
4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedintheremovable
cover.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
5.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalveina
downwardposition—betweenapproximately5o’clock
to7:00o’clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
6.Securethelatch.
CheckingtheEngine-OilLevel
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;however,the
oillevelmustbecheckedbeforeandaftertheengineisrst
started.
Thecrankcasecapacityofthe1.5Lisapproximately5.2L
(5.5qt)withthelter.Thecapacityofthe1.1lengineis
approximately3.7L(3.9qt)withthelter.
Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH-4,CI-4orhigher
Preferredoil:SAE15W-40(above0degreesF)
Alternateoil:SAE10W-30or5W-30(alltemperatures)
ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailablefromyourdistributorin
either15W-40or10W-30viscosity.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
settheparkingbrakeandremovethekeyfromthe
ignitionswitch.
2.Openthehood.
3.Removethedipstick,wipeitclean,andinstallit(Figure
31).

oillevelshouldbeuptotheFullmark.
5.IftheoillevelisbelowtheFullmark,removethell
cap(Figure31)andaddoiluntillevelreachestheFull

betweentheupperandlowerlimitsontheoil
gauge.Enginefailuremayoccurasaresultofover
llingorunderllingtheengineoil.
6.Installtheoilllcapandclosethehood.
