Note:Useenoughcoolanttolltheengineandthe
systemlines.Thiswillallowforthecoolanttoexpand
withoutitoverowingwhiletheengineiswarmingup.
8.Starttheenginewiththecaplooselyontheradiator
(Figure71).
9.Allowtheenginetowarmupuntilthethermostat
opens.
Note:Thisusuallyoccursbetween175and190
degreesF.
CAUTION
Astheenginecontinuestorun,thecoolantwill
becomehotandpressurized.Ifyouopenthe
radiatorcapwhenthecoolantishot,itcould
sprayoutandseverelyburnyouorbystanders.
Allowtheenginetocoolforatleast15
minutesbeforeopeningtheradiatorcap.
Theradiatorcapmustbecooltothetouch.
Wearprotectiveclothingandavoidcontact
withhotcoolantasyouopentheradiator
cap.
10.Oncethecoolanthaswarmedup,topoffthecoolant
leveltothesealingsurfaceofthecapandtightenthe
cap(Figure71).
11.Opentheexpansiontankcapandllthetankwith
coolanttotheColdlevel(Figure71).
12.Checkthecoolantlevelsafterseveralenginestartup
andshutdowncycles.
Note:Addcoolanttotheradiatorandexpansiontank
asneeded.
BrakeMaintenance
AdjustingtheBrakes
Ifthebrakepedaltravelsmorethan2.5cm(1inch)before
youfeelresistance,adjustthebrakesasfollows:
1.Positionthesprayeronalevelsurface,stopthepump,
stoptheengine,andremovethekeyfromthestarter
switch.
2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Puttheblocksunderthewheelstopreventthemachine
fromrolling.
4.Releasetheparkingbrake.
5.Loosenthefrontnutsonthebrakecablesunderthe
frontendofthesprayer(Figure73).

6.Tightentherearnutsequallyuntilthebrakepedal
movesbetween1to2cm(1/2to1inch)beforeyou
feelresistance(Figure73).
Important:Ensurethatyoutightenbothrear
nutsequallysothatthethreadedendsofthebrake
cablesinfrontofthefrontnutsarethesame
length.
