Note:Iftheengine-coolantlevelisbelowtheindicator
lineontheoverowbottlewhentheengineiscold,the
coolanttemperaturegaugemaynotregistercorrectly
duringoperationand/ortheaudiblealarmmaynot
soundiftheengineoverheats.
OperatingTips
UsingtheFastThrottleSetting
Forbestmowingandmaximumaircirculation,operate
theengineattheFASTposition.Airisrequiredto
thoroughlycutgrassclippings,sodonotsetthe
height-of-cutsolowastototallysurroundthemower
deckinuncutgrass.Alwaystrytohave1sideofthe
mowerdeckfreefromuncutgrass,whichallowsair
tobedrawnintothemowerdeck.
CuttingaLawnfortheFirstTime
Cutgrassslightlylongerthannormaltoensurethat
thecuttingheightofthemowerdeckdoesnotscalp
anyunevenground.However,thecuttingheight
usedinthepastisgenerallythebestonetouse.
Whencuttinggrasslongerthan15cm(6inches)tall,
youmaywanttocutthelawntwicetoensurean
acceptablequalityofcut.
CuttingaThirdoftheGrassBlade
Itisbesttocutonlyaboutathirdofthegrassblade.
Cuttingmorethanthatisnotrecommendedunless
grassissparse,oritislatefallwhengrassgrows
moreslowly.
AlternatingtheMowingDirection
Alternatethemowingdirectiontokeepthegrass
standingstraight.Thisalsohelpsdisperseclippings,
whichenhancesdecompositionandfertilization.
MowingatCorrectIntervals
Grassgrowsatdifferentratesatdifferenttimesof
theyear.Tomaintainthesamecuttingheight,mow
moreofteninearlyspring.Asthegrassgrowthrate
slowsinmidsummer,mowlessfrequently.Ifyou
cannotmowforanextendedperiod,rstmowata
highcuttingheight,thenmowagain2dayslaterata
lowerheightsetting.
