BreakingintheMachine
Refertotheenginemanualsuppliedwiththe
machineforoilchangeandmaintenanceprocedures
recommendedduringthebreak-inperiod.
Only8hoursofoperationisrequiredforthebreak-in
period.
Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,which
couldleadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbe
corrected.Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduring
break-inforsignsofoilleakage,loosefasteners,or
anyothermalfunction.
StartingtheEngine
Inspecttheareabeneaththecuttingunitstoensure
thattheyareclearofdebris.
1.Sitontheseat,engagetheparkingbrake,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontroland
movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position.
2.EnsurethatthetractionpedalisintheNEUTRAL
positionandthatyourfootisoffthepedal.
3.Ifyouarestartingacoldengine,movethechoke
totheONposition.
4.MovethethrottlelevertotheHALFTHROTTLE
position.
5.Insertandrotatetheignitionkeyclockwiseuntil
theenginestarts.
6.Aftertheenginestarts,adjustthechoketorun
theenginesmoothly.Assoonaspossible,open
thechokebypullingitrearwardtotheOFF
position.Awarmenginerequireslittleorno
choking.
CheckingtheMachineAfter
StartingtheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
2.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolleverforward
momentarily.
Thecuttingunitsshouldlowerandallthereels
shouldrotate.
Note:Thefunctionlevershouldbeinthe
middle(mow)positionforthereelstorunwhen
loweringthecuttingunits
3.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrollever
rearward.
Thecuttingreelsshouldstoprotatingandthe
cuttingunitsshouldraisetothefulltransport
position.
4.Engagethebraketokeepthemachinefrom
moving,andshutofftheengine.
5.Checkthelipofeachbaskettoensurethelipis
notincontactwiththereelduringstep2.
Ifyouseesignsofcontact,adjustthepullarms;
referto4InstallingtheCuttingUnits(page11).
6.Checkforthemachineforhydraulic-uidleaks
andtightenthehydraulicttingsifanyarefound.
Note:Whenthemachineisnewandthe
bearingsandreelsaretight,itisnecessaryto
setthethrottlelevertotheFASTpositionforthis
check.Afastthrottlesettingmaynotberequired
afterthebreak-inperiod.
Note:Ifuidleakscontinuetoappear,contact
yourAuthorizedT oroDistributorforassistance
and,ifnecessary,replacementparts.
Important:Atraceofuidonthemotoror
wheelsealsisnormal.Sealsrequireasmall
amountoflubricationtoperformproperly.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,pull
backtheraise/lowermowcontrol,andmovethe
functional-controllevertotheNEUTRALposition.
2.RotatetheignitionkeytotheOFFpositionto
shutofftheengine.Removethekeyfromthe
switchtopreventaccidentalstarting.
3.Closethefuel-shutoffvalvebeforestoringthe
machine.
Checkingthe
Safety-InterlockSystem
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesare
disconnectedordamagedthemachinecould
operateunexpectedly,causingpersonal
injury.
Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
Thepurposeofthesafety-interlocksystemisto
preventoperationofthemachinewherethereis
possibleinjurytoyouordamagetothemachine.
