Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,which
couldleadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbe
corrected.Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduring
break-inforsignsofoilleakage,loosefasteners,or
anyothermalfunction.
StartingtheEngine
Note:Inspecttheareabeneaththemowerstobe
certaintheyareclearofdebris.
1.Sitontheseat,ensurethattheparkingbrake
isengaged,disengagetheraise/lowermow
control,andmovethefunctionalcontrolleverto
theNEUTRALposition.
2.Ensurethatyourfootisnotonthetractionpedal
andmakesurethepedalisintheNEUTRAL
position.
3.MovethechokelevertotheONposition(only
whenstartingacoldengine)andthethrottle
levertotheHALFTHROTTLEposition.
4.Starttheengineandregulatethechoketokeep
itrunningsmoothly.
5.Assoonaspossible,openthechokebypulling
itrearwardtotheOFFposition.
Note:Awarmenginerequireslittleorno
choking.
6.Checkthemachineoutwiththefollowing
proceduresaftertheenginehasstarted:
A.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
B.Movethetraction-controllevertotheMOW
positionandmomentarilyengagethereels
bymovingtheraise/lowermow-controllever
forward.
Thecuttingunitsshoulddropandallthe
reelsshouldrotate.
C.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrollever
rearwarduntilthecuttingunitsraisetothe
fulltransportposition.
Thecuttingunitsstoprotatingassoonas
theystarttolift.Ifyoureleasethelever
beforethecuttingunitsarefullyraised,the
upwardmotionstops,butthecuttingunits
stillstoprotating.
D.Locktheparkingbrakeandshutoffthe
engine.
E.Checkthelipofeachbaskettoensureitis
notincontactwiththereelduringoperation.
Ifyouseesignsofcontact,adjustthepull
arms;referto4InstallingtheCuttingUnits
(page11).
F.Checkforoilleaksandtightenthehydraulic
ttingsifanyarefound.
Note:Whenthemachineisnewandthe
bearingsandreelsaretight,itisnecessary
tousetheFASTthrottleleverpositionfor
thischeck.Afastthrottlesettingmaynotbe
requiredafterthebreak-inperiod.
Note:Ifoilleakscontinuetoappear,
contactyourauthorizedT orodistributorfor
assistanceand,ifnecessary,replacement
parts.
Important:Atraceofoilonthemotor
orwheelsealsisnormal.Sealsrequire
asmallamountoflubricationtoperform
properly.
CheckingtheMachineAfter
StartingtheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
2.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolleverforward
momentarily.
Thecuttingunitsshouldlowerandallthereels
shouldrotate.
Note:Thefunctionlevershouldbeinthe
middle(mow)positionforthereelstorunwhen
loweringthecuttingunits
3.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrollever
rearward.
Thecuttingreelsshouldstoprotatingandthe
cuttingunitsshouldraisetothefulltransport
position.
4.Engagethebraketokeepthemachinefrom
moving,andoperatethetractionpedalthrough
theforwardandreversepositions.
5.Continuetheaboveprocedurefor1to2minutes.
Movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position,locktheparkingbrake,andshutoffthe
engine.
6.Checkforuidleaksandtightenthehydraulic
ttingsifanyleaksarefound.
Note:Whenthemachineisnewandthe
bearingsandreelsaretight,itisnecessary
tousetheFASTthrottleleverpositionforthis
check.Afastthrottlesettingmaynotberequired
afterthebreak-inperiod.
Note:Ifuidleakscontinuetoappear,contact
yourauthorizedT orodistributorforassistance
and,ifnecessary,replacementparts.
