•Shutoffthemachine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
PreparingtheMachinefor
Storage
Ifyouwishtostorethemachineforalongperiodof
time,thefollowingstepsshouldbeperformedprior
tostorage:
1.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,waitforall
movingpartstostopandallowthemachineto
coolbeforestoring.
2.Removeaccumulationsofdirtandoldgrass
clippings.Sharpenthereelsandbedknives,if
necessary;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator's
Manual.Usearustpreventiveonbedknivesand
reelblades.Greaseandoilalllubricationpoints;
refertoGreasingtheMachine(page31).
3.Blockupthewheelstoremoveanyweighton
thetires.
4.Drainandreplacethehydraulicuidandlter
andinspectthehydrauliclinesandttings.
Replace,ifnecessary;refertoServicingthe
HydraulicFluid(page41)andCheckingthe
HydraulicLinesandHoses(page43).
5.Drainthefueltank.Runtheengineuntilitstops
fromlackoffuel.Replacethefuellter;referto
ReplacingtheFuelFilter(page35).
6.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,draintheoilfrom
thecrankcase.Rellitwithfreshoil;referto
ServicingtheEngineOil(page33).
7.Removethesparkplugs,pouroneounceof
SAE30oilintothecylinders,andcrankslowlyto
distributetheoil.Replacethesparkplugs;refer
toReplacingtheSparkPlugs(page34).
8.Cleandirtandchafffromthecylinder,cylinder
headns,andblowerhousing.
9.Removethebatteryandchargeitfully;referto
ChargingtheBattery(page35).Eitherstoreit
ontheshelforonthemachine.Leavethecables
disconnectedifitisstoredonthemachine.
Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.
10.Ifpossible,storethemachineinawarm,dry
location.
