themachineneardrop-offs,ditches,
embankments,waterhazards,orother
hazards.Themachinecouldsuddenlyrollover
ifawheelgoesovertheedgeortheedge
cavesin.Establishasafetyareabetweenthe
machineandanyhazard.
Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.
Iftherearehazards,mowtheslopewitha
pedestrian-controlledmachine.
Ifpossible,keepthecuttingunitsloweredto
thegroundwhileoperatingonslopes.Raising
thecuttingunitswhileoperatingonslopescan
causethemachinetobecomeunstable.
Useextremecautionwithgrass-collection
systemsorotherattachments.Thesecan
changethestabilityofthemachineandcause
alossofcontrol.
BreakingintheMachine
Refertotheenginemanualsuppliedwiththe
machineforoilchangeandmaintenanceprocedures
recommendedduringthebreak-inperiod.
Only8hoursofoperationisrequiredforthebreak-in
period.
Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,which
couldleadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbe
corrected.Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduring
break-inforsignsofoilleakage,loosefasteners,or
anyothermalfunction.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Donotuseetherorothertypesof
startinguid.
Note:Youmayneedtobleedthefuelsystembefore
startingtheengineifanyofthefollowingsituations
haveoccurred:
Initialstartupofanewengine.
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponfuel
systemcomponents.
RefertoyourengineOwnersManual.
1.Sitontheseat,locktheparkingbrake,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontroland
movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
makesurethepedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition.
4.Insertthekeyintotheswitchandrotateittothe
ONposition.HolditintheONpositionuntilthe
glow-plug-indicatorlightgoesoff(approximately
6seconds).
5.TurntheignitionkeytotheSTARTposition.
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthe
startermotor,donotengagethestarter
longerthan10seconds.After10secondsof
continuouscranking,wait60secondsbefore
engagingthestartermotoragain.
6.Releasethekeywhentheenginestartsand
allowittomovetotheONposition.
7.Allowtheenginetowarmupforafewminutes
beforeoperating.
Important:Whenstartingtheengineforthe
rsttimeorafteranoverhauloftheengine,
operatethemachineinforwardandreverse
for1to2minutes.Turnthesteeringwheel
totheleftandrighttocheckthesteering
response.Thenshuttheengineoffandwait
forallmovingpartstostop;refertoShutting
OfftheEngine(page25).Checkforoil
leaks,loosepartsandanyothernoticeable
malfunctions.
CheckingtheMachineAfter
StartingtheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
2.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolleverforward
momentarily.
Thecuttingunitsshouldlowerandallthereels
shouldrotate.
Note:Thefunctionlevershouldbeinthe
middle(mow)positionforthereelsrunwhen
loweringthecuttingunits
3.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrollever
rearward.
