•Chargethebatteryinanopen,well-ventilated
area,awayfromsparksandames.Unplugthe
chargerbeforeconnectingordisconnectingthe
battery.Wearprotectiveclothinganduseinsulated
tools.
ServicingtheBattery
ServiceInterval:Every50hours(Ifthemachineisin
storage,checktheelectrolytelevel
every30days.)
Properlymaintainthebatteryelectrolyteandkeepthe
topofthebatteryclean.Storethemachineinacool
placetopreventthebatteryfromrunningdown.
Thebatterycablesmustbetightontheterminalsto
providegoodelectricalcontact.
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacid,
whichcanbefatalifconsumedandcauses
severeburns.
•Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontact
withskin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafety
glassestoshieldyoureyesandrubber
glovestoprotectyourhands.
•Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
1.Checktheelectrolytelevelinthecellsofthe
battery.
2.Ifneeded,adddistilledordemineralizedwater
intothecellofthebattery.
Note:Onlyraisetheelectrolyteleveltothe
bottomofthesplitringinsideeachcell.
3.Cleanthetopofthebatterybywashingit
periodicallywithabrushdippedinammoniaor
bicarbonateofsodasolution.
4.Flushthetopsurfaceofthebatterywithwater
aftercleaningit.
Important:Donotremovethellcapswhile
cleaningthebattery.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
thetractorandcables,causingsparks.
Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
•Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
Ifcorrosionoccursattheterminals,disconnectthe
cables,negative(-)cablerst,andscrapetheclamps
andterminalsseparately.Connectthecables,positive
(+)cablerst,andcoattheterminalswithpetroleum
jelly.
LocatingtheFuses
Thefusesintheelectricalsystemofthemachineare
locatedundertheseat(Figure39).
