Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;
however,checktheoillevelbeforeandafteryourst
starttheengine.Checktheoillevelbeforeoperating
themachineeachdayoreachtimeyouusethe
machine.
Thecrankcasecapacityisapproximately3.8
L(4quarts)withthelter.Usehigh-qualityengineoil
thatmeetsthefollowingspecications:
•APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH-4,CI-4or
higher.
•Preferredoil:SAE15W-40(above0°F(-17°C)
•Alternateoil:SAE10W-30or5W-30(all
temperatures)
Note:ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailablefromyour
distributorineither15W-40or10W-30viscosity.See
thepartscatalogforpartnumbers.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunit,movethethrottlelevertotheSLOW
position,shutofftheengine,andremovethekey
fromtheignitionswitch.
2.Openthehood.
3.Removethedipstick,wipeitclean,installthe
dipstickintothetube,andpullitoutagain.
4.Checktheengine-oillevel.
Iftheoilisbetweenthemarksonthedipstick
(FofFigure34),theengineoilisatasufcient
level.Iftheoilisbelowthelowermarkonthe
dipstick(BofFigure34),addmoreoiluntilthe
oillevelisbetweenthemarksonthedipstick.
