How To Do It
The TS1 fitness test is an improved implementation of the YMCA
protocol fitness test, as described in the AC
SM Guidelines, Chapter
4. (See Bibliography.) The TS1 must monitor your heart rate
accurately throughout, so you should use a wireless transmitter
strap instead of the contact heart rate pads (see Chapter 2).

he result of the test is an estimate of your maximal oxygen uptake,
or VO
2
max (see Appendix B).
