You can also use the results of a fitness test to find how you
compare with an average population. Find your score in the chart
below in the proper column for your age group. (Data is from
ASCM Guidelines, from 1994 research from the Institute for
Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas.)

Note that the absolute accuracy of this test is approximately
+/- 15% compared to a laboratory maximal test. (See Swain and
L
eutholtz, Metabolic Calculations, page 63). The results on the TS1
should be somewhat better since it uses an improved maximum
heart rate formula (see Appendix A).

he repeatability accuracy, from test to test with the same test
subject, should be much better, probably within +/- 7%.
