Connecting
UAD-2 Satellite
Important: Install the UAD software before connecting UAD-2 Satellite (see
“UAD Software Installation” on page 28). UAD-2 Satellite may be connected
before or after the system is booted.
To connect UAD-2 Satellite:
1.
Ensure that UAD v5.8.1 (or higher) software is already installed and that
the system was restarted after software installation. See “UAD Software In-
stallation” on page 28 for specific instructions.
2. Ensure that all UAD plug-in host software is quit.
3. Select a suitable location for the UAD-2 Satellite chassis (see “Satellite In-
stall Location” on page 130).
4. Connect the AC end of the External Power Supply to an AC outlet. If you
need a different AC connector for your country, see page 131.
5. Connect external power supply output cable to the DC input on the rear
panel of the UAD-2 Satellite chassis.
6. Connect one end of the FireWire cable to the FireWire port on the host
computer.
7. Connect the other end of the FireWire cable to the UAD-2 Satellite chassis.
8. Turn on UAD-2 Satellite using the power switch on the rear panel. The unit
may be powered on before connecting without consequence.
UAD-2 Satellite connections are complete.
You are now ready to use UAD-2 Satellite. See “UAD-2 Satellite Operation”
on page 133. Additional connection methods are detailed later in this chap-
ter.
Disconnecting
UAD-2 Satellite
Important: The proper sequence must be followed before disconnecting
UAD-2 Satellite from the computer to avoid unpredictable behavior and/or
data loss.
To disconnect UAD-2 Satellite:
1.
Save your sessions and quit all UAD host software (audio applications and
the UAD Meter & Control Panel).
2. Disconnect UAD-2 Satellite from the FireWire port. Done!
Note: UAD-2 Satellite may be disconnected when it and/or the computer is
powered, as long as the steps above are followed.
