4. The UVD Robot
4.1. About the robot
The UVD Robot Model B is an autonomous, flexible and module built disinfection robot. The
robot uses high power UVC light sources that disinfects harmful bacteria, fungi and pathogens
that cause infection and illness.
The autonomous drive system allows the cleaning personnel to easily call the robot via tablet
and it will navigate to the desired position while the staff is doing the initial cleaning.
After the initial cleaning by hospital staff, the robot is sent to the target room and once
activated the personnel can continue their planned work elsewhere while disinfection is
ongoing. After disinfection, the robot signals the cleaning staff and after being let out, it will be
ready to disinfect a new room.
Figure 1 illustrates the different steps during a disinfection process using UVD robot Model B.
