Function Description:
The Vicon Extra 832R, 832CR, and 835R PRO are towed swathers designed for laying common grass and corn crops into swaths. The R model operates only on the right-hand side of the tractor, while the CR model can operate on both sides. The machine is towed via a drawbar coupled to the tractor's lift arms, allowing it to be set in either transport or working positions using the tractor's hydraulic system. The cutting unit is hydraulically connected to the main frame and balanced by strong springs, ensuring precise ground following and uniform cutting. The cutting discs are equipped with durable, reversible knives for high capacity, even in difficult crops. The cutting unit also features powerful rollers for effective crop conditioning and a guard to protect against moving objects. The machine is designed for safe operation and complies with EC regulations, being CE marked.

Usage Features:
- Correct Usage: The machine is intended for mowing all types of grass, clover, whole crop, alfalfa, and sorghum in fields.
- Incorrect Usage: It must not be used for cutting grass in park facilities/lawns, on public road verges, harvesting corn, or clearing forest floors/densely wooded areas.
- Initial Connection: Requires careful attention to safety, ensuring the tractor cannot roll, matching machine and tractor categories, avoiding standing between them during attachment, and using hydraulic suspension slowly.
- PTO Shaft: Ensure correct connection and rotational speed (540/1000 rpm). The swivel gear can be adjusted for different PTO speeds.
- Hydraulic System: Connect only when depressurized. Regular checks for damage are crucial. Hydraulic connections are color-marked to prevent incorrect operation.
- Load Capacity: Compliance with total weight, axle pressure, tire capacity, and minimum front axle load (at least 20% of tractor's weight) is essential for maneuverability and safety.
- Transport on Public Roads: The machine must comply with Road Traffic Act requirements, including lights, warning signs, permitted width/weight, and tire pressure. Carrying passengers is prohibited.
- Operation: Before starting, ensure all guards are in place, the side guard is folded out, and the tractor and machine are in a straight line. Check the mechanical safety valve is open, connect the PTO shaft, and gradually increase speed.
- Roller Pressure: Adjustable via springs on both sides of the machine. Increased for grassy crops, reduced for clover and leafy crops. Standard setting is approx. 2 mm (3/32'') between spring coils. Adjustments should be made 5 mm (3/16'') at a time.
- Distance Between Rollers: Recommended distance is 3 mm (1/8''), checked with a spacer.
- Deflector Plates: Two deflector plates allow adjustment of the cutting swath width to suit the chopper.
- Stubble Height: Variable settings adjusted by turning the left handle. Can be combined with high skids for increased stubble height.
- Balancing the Cutting Unit: Adjusted by screwing bolts on the springs to achieve a downward pressure of 40-60 kg (90-130 lb).
- Bx Equipment (Optional): Allows two swaths to be joined into one, saving time and increasing capacity.
- High Skids (Optional): Available in 20 mm (3/4''), 40 mm (1 9/16''), and 80 mm (3'') heights for uneven fields.
- Quick Release of Knives (Optional): Allows for easy knife changes or turns.
- Roller RPM (Optional): A V-belt pulley and 3 V-belt parts can reduce rotor speed to 1200 rpm, recommended when Bx equipment is used.
- Weights (Optional): Mounted on wheels for stabilization on hilly terrain.
- Chain for Locking Lift Arms (Optional): Prevents tractor lift arms from lowering.
- PTO Shaft (Optional): Available with 8 or 21 splines.

Maintenance Features:
- General Safety: All maintenance work must be performed by trained personnel with the tractor stopped, ignition key removed, PTO disconnected, hydraulic system depressurized, handbrake applied, and the machine secured. Original spare parts must be used.
- Cleaning: Use only pH-neutral cleaning agents. Low-pressure cleaning is recommended for sensitive components. Disconnect power before cleaning. Wear protective gear.
- Parking and Storage: Prepare the machine for storage at the end of the season by checking/tightening bolts, repairing damage, reducing tire pressure, and lubricating. Park on a stable, horizontal surface with wheels locked and supported.
- Hydraulic Hoses: Replace every 4 years.
- Cutting Disc: Check after 1 hour of use, then every day. Inspect knives and bolts for wear/damage. Tighten cutting disc bolts to 80 Nm (59 ft/lb).
- Universal Joint: Check every month for wear. Check for broken or loose bolts, apply Loctite 242, and tighten to 79 Nm (58 ft/lb).
- Knives: Check after 1 hour of use, then every day. Inspect for wear and damage. Minimum bolt diameter is 16 mm (5/8''). Tighten bolts to 95 Nm (70 ft/lb).
- Cones: External inspection every day, internal inspection every season. Remove dirt and check for wear.
- PTO Shaft: Refer to manufacturer's instructions for service and maintenance.
- Friction Clutch: Bled during initial start-up and every season. Loosen bolts, pull PTO shaft back, then tighten bolts.
- Friction Disc: Replace as required.
- Stone Guard and Counter Knife: Inspect every 40 hours of use for wear. Replace if visible holes are present.
- Rollers: Inspect every day for lodged foreign bodies.
- Transmission (V-belts): Check after 10 hours of use, then every 40 hours of use. Tighten springs to 75 mm (3''). Replace V-belts as required.
- Oil Changes:
- Cutterbar: Change after 10 hours of use, then every 200 hours of use or once a year. Oil capacity: 832R-CR Pro: 4.1 liters (8.6 US pints, 7.2 Imp. pints); 835R Pro: 4.6 liters (9.7 US pints, 8.1 Imp. pints). Oil level should be between min. 6 mm (1/4'') and max. 9 mm (3/8'').
- Main Gear (R model): Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity: 1.5 liters (3.2 US pints, 2.6 Imp. pints). Check oil level every 80 hours of use.
- Main Gear (CR model): Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity: 1.5 liters (3.2 US pints, 2.6 Imp. pints). Check oil level every 80 hours of use.
- Centre Gear (CR model only): Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity: 2 liters (4.2 US pints, 3.5 Imp. pints). Check oil level every 80 hours of use.
- Swivel Gear: Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity (upper and lower parts): 1.8 liters (3.8 US pints, 3.2 Imp. pints) each. Check oil level every 80 hours of use.
- Rollers (Main Gear): Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity: 0.8 liters (1.7 US pints, 1.4 Imp. pints). Check oil level every month.
- Arm: Change after 10 hours of use, then every season. Oil capacity: 0.75 liters (1.6 US pints, 1.3 Imp. pints). Check oil level every month.
- Accumulator: Check every season. Contains high accumulated pressure and should only be serviced by authorized personnel. Pressure: 145 bar (2105 psi).
- Wheel Bolts: Check after 10 hours of use, then every season. Tighten to 300 Nm (220 ft/lb). Check tire pressure.
Lubricants:
The manual provides a table of recommended lubricants for the cutterbar, transmission, and grease nipples from various suppliers (BP, Castrol, Statoil, Q8, Mobil Oil, Shell, Texaco, OK).
