11.9.6 Cutting out the buttonhole
Carry out the following steps:
1. Insert a pin crosswise on the inner edge of each of the front and rear bars
so that the stitches are not cut accidentally.
2. Using a ripping knife or a pair of sharp W6 buttonhole scissors, cut open
the buttonhole.
! Make an incision at the centre of the buttonhole and cut it open on
both sides up to the pins.
» The buttonhole has been cut open.
11.10 Darning and bar-tacking: Programs 98 and
99
Buttonhole Foot, Super-Stretch Needle 90 or 75
You can darn and bar-tack automatically by using the buttonhole foot.
Pattern Porgram 98 is particularly suited to reinforcing highly-stressed
points, such as trouser pockets. You can darn by using Pattern Program
99.
Select the following settings:
Darning and bar-tacking settings
W6 Tip
Programs 98 and 99:
Stitch length and stitch width cannot be changed.
Always place tear-away or self-adhesive W6 stabiliser under the fabric for
the purposes of stabilisation.
