5.7 Checking the Engine Coolant Level
When
Daily
Requirements
Machine shut down
Engine cool
50/50 coolant/water solution (as needed)
NOTICE: Do not use water alone to fill the radiator. Use a long-life ethylene glycol
coolant.
Procedure
Perform the procedure below to check the engine coolant level.
NOTICE: Do not add fluid to the over-flow reservior.
1. Open one of the cabinet doors.
2. Slowly rotate the radiator cap (a)
counterclockwise to release system
pressure. Unscrew and remove the
radiator cap after the pressure has
been released.
3. Verify that the coolant level of the
radiator is 19 mm (3/4 in.) below the
bottom of the filler neck. Add more
coolant if necessary to maintain this
level.
NOTICE: Do not overfill the radiator. The
machine will be damaged.
4. Inspect the radiator filler cap and filler cap seal for damage. Clean the radiator
filler cap or replace it if necessary.
5. Reinstall the radiator filler cap.
WARNING
Burn hazard. Engine coolant is hot and under pressure at operating temperature.
f Check the coolant level only after the engine has been shut down and is cool.
