5 OPERATION
The SMP is designed for simple and intuitive operation with 2 basic functions:
- instant and averaged field measurement
- storage of field measurements in memory
Several additional functions make the SMP a very complete field measurement system.
The SMP is controlled via the keypad and easy access to data is available through the different
screens.
5.1 Switching the apparatus on and off
The apparatus is switched on and off with the On / Off switch located on the top of the
apparatus. When the apparatus is switched on, the firmware version is shown for a few
seconds , automatically displaying the main screen afterwards.
The device’s configuration (alarm level, units, type of measurement, measurement interval,
etc.) is saved when it is switched off and recovered automatically when it is switched on.
5.2 Main screen
The main screen provides instantaneous and continuous information on the electromagnetic
field being measured and also on the most important configuration parameters.
• Probe: Serial number of the field probe attached to the apparatus.
• Alarm: Configured alarm level. The circle to the left of this field indicates whether or
not the alarm is activated:
● Alarm activated
○ Alarm deactivated
• Log: The circle indicates whether or not data are being memorised:
● Memorisation activated
○ Memorisation deactivated
