POLARITY REVERSAL – FJ/FR 5kV OR LESS
FJ & FR Detail
For reversible polarity models, the power supply has been shipped with two high
voltage modules, one positive and one negative. Both modules are mounted in the
chassis. The active module is wired into the chassis harness, and the inactive module
is mounted adjacent to the active module. A label on each high voltage module
indicates its polarity. To reverse the polarity of the power supply, it is necessary to
interchange the high voltage modules.
WARNING! To avoid the risk of shock and personal injury, Wait at least 3
minutes after disconnecting the AC mains power before removing any covers or
panels.
1. Remove the top cover from the unit.
BE SURE AC POWER IS DISCONNECTED AND HV IS
DISCHARGED!
2. Remove the electrical connector A3-P1 and the push lugs A3-E1, A3-E2 and
A3-E6 (if used) which are connected to the high voltage assembly presently
active. Disconnect J1 (HV output connector assy) wire at A3-E5 by
removing the nut and associated washer. Disconnect the high voltage wire
connected to A2-JHV1. Disconnect the high voltage wire connected to A2-
JHV2 (if used).
3. Remove the nuts and associated washers used to mount the high voltage
assemblies to the base pan. Interchange the two high voltage modules and
reinstall the washers and nuts. Secure the HV wire(s) on the inactive HV by
securing them in cable clamp as shown above.
