Removing a Load From a Stack
WARNING
Move carefully and smoothly when the load is raised
over a stack. When the load is raised, the center of
gravity of the lift truck and the load is much higher. The
lift truck can tip over when the load is raised.
1. Approach the load carefully. Make sure that the truck is
perpendicular to the load. Raise the forks to the proper
height for engaging the load.
2. Move forward slowly until the forks are in position under
the load. With the walkie, reach lift truck extend the forks
under the load. The forks must support at least two-thirds
(2/3) of the length of the load.
Make sure that the load is centered between the forks.
Make sure that the forks do not extend past the load so that
loads or equipment that are behind the load being lifted are
not damaged.
3. Slowly tilt the forks back slightly. If the lift truck is not
equipped with a tilt function, raise the forks until they begin
to lift the load. Check for any obstacle behind you. If area is
clear, move the lift truck away from the stack. When the
load is clear of the stack, lower the load for traveling. Lower
slowly and smoothly. Always travel with the load as low as
possible and tilted back.
