BREAKING IN ENGINE
Your new engine requires a period of
break-in to allow mating surfaces of mov-
ing parts to wear in evenly. Correct break-
in will help ensure proper performance
and longer engine life.
cC
8 Failure to follow the break-in procedure
could result in reduced engine life or
even severe engine damage.
8 Premix fuel must be used during break-
in in addition to oil in the oil injection
system.
For premix models
Gasoline to engine oil premix ratio
during break-in: 50:1
For details on mixing fuel and oil,
see “Gasoline and oil mixing” in
this chapter.
Break-in time: 10 hours
For oil injection system models
Gasoline to engine oil premix ratio
during break-in: 100:1
