9. Install:

(along with the O-ring )
10. Start the engine, warm it up for several
minutes, and then turn it off.
11. Check:
•Engine
(for engine oil leaks)
12. Check:
• Engine oil level

LEVEL” on page 3-21.
13. Install:
• Engine skid plate
14. Check:
• Engine oil pressure

a. Slightly loosen the oil check bolt “1”.
b. Start the engine and keep it idling until
engine oil starts to seep from the oil gallery
bolt. If no engine oil comes out after one
minute, turn the engine off so that it will not
seize.
c. Check the engine oil passages and the oil
pump for damage or leakage. Refer to “OIL
PUMP” on page 5-40.
d. Start the engine after solving the prob-
lem(s) and check the engine oil pressure
again.
e. Tighten the oil check bolt to specification.

CHECKING AND LUBRICATING THE
CABLES
The following procedure applies to all of the
inner and outer cables.
WARNING

Damaged outer cable may cause the cable
to corrode and interfere with its movement.
Replace damaged outer cable and inner
cables as soon as possible.
1. Check:
• Outer cable
Damage → Replace.
2. Check:
• Cable operation
Rough movement → Lubricate or
replace.
TIP
Hold the cable end up and apply several drops
of lubricant to the cable.
3. Apply:
• Lithium-soap-based grease
(onto end of the cable)
