Use a playable disc, verifying the disc type, color system and regional code. * The disc is placed upside down. Ensure the playback side is down. * The disc is not placed within the guide. Place the disc correctly inside the guide on the disc tray. * The disc is dirty. Clean the disc. * The rating level is set. Cancel the rating function or change the rating level.

      If timer recording isn't working on your Zenith DVD VCR Combo, check the following: * Ensure the clock in the DVD+VCR is set to the correct time. * Make sure the DVD+VCR is turned off to enable the timer (the TIMER indicator light should appear). * Reprogram the Timer if it has been programmed incorrectly. * If the TIMER indicator light doesn't appear, reprogram the timer and turn the DVD+VCR off. * Note that if the DVD+VCR is in Timer Recording mode, this is the normal indication.
