CONFIGURING A WX SWITCH FOR
BASIC SERVICE
You can configure a WX switch with 3Com Wireless Switch Manager
(3WXM), Web Manager, or the CLI. Mobility System Software (MSS)
commands are required for basic setup in each case. (Even if you plan to
configure the switch with 3WXM or Web Manager, you need to type a
few commands in the CLI first.)
Before You Begin If your WX switch does not yet have an IP address and you are accessing
the CLI through the serial console port, go first to “Accessing the CLI” on
page 35.
This chapter shows CLI command syntax and examples and includes
complex terminology. For syntax descriptions, additional configuration,
and a glossary of terms, see the Wireless LAN Switch and Controller
Command Reference and the Wireless LAN Switch and Controller
Configuration Guide.
As an alternative to using this chapter, you can use the quickstart
command to perform basic setup. (See the Wireless LAN Switch and
Controller Quick Start Guide.)
Accessing the CLI To enter the configuration commands in this chapter, you must log in to
the enabled access level of the CLI. The default username and password
are null strings.
To log in from the serial console to the enabled access level for
configuration:
1 Press Enter to display a username prompt.
