SCOTT CONNECT MONITOR SYSTEM SOFTWARE
SCOTT CONNECT MONITOR software (Monitor) is designed to provide incident
commanders or other responsible parties with critical, real-time information about
the 3M Scott Air-Pak X3 Pro SCBA in use on an emergency scene. The application
uses the mesh network created by the SEMS II and SEMS II Pro-equipped SCBAs
to receive and display air level and alarm information for all SCBA users on a
scene. The software enables bi-directional communication of acknowledgments
between the application and SCBA users.
Users of this system must be familiar with the capabilities and limitations of the
system. The system is intended to be used as an integral part of an emergency
event management system, which includes planned deployment of personnel.
NOTE
USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 1500, "STANDARD ON FIRE DEPARTMENT
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH PROGRAM."
Using Monitor requires the following:
• 3M Scott Air-Pak X3 Pro SCBA equipped with SEMS II Pro.
• A personal Windows-based computer (not included) with Monitor installed.
3M recommends use of a laptop computer designed for rugged use.
• SEMS II Gateway with USB Interface, P/N 201088-03.
Monitor is intended to supplement, not replace, your standard operating procedures
for emergency incident management. The incident commander must maintain an
awareness and control of all reghter resources participating in the incident. This
software does NOT replace conventional two-way radio communications. This
software does NOT replace the minimum two person team approach to personnel
deployment.
When a respirator user opens the cylinder valve and begins use of a 3M Scott
Air-Pak X3 Pro SCBA equipped with SEMS II Pro, SEMS II Pro electronics will
automatically begin to operate. If Monitor is running at the Base Station when SCBA
use begins, the SCBA will attempt to connect to the Base Station. The Incident
Commanders from each re company are responsible for coordinating activities
with each other and to maintain accountability for all participating reghter
resources.
For more information, see the SCOTT CONNECT MONITOR RF PASS BASE
STATION SOFTWARE - Installation & Use Instructions (P/N 595355-01) or the
Scott Connect Monitor Quick Reference Guide available within the software
application for complete details of computer requirements and Base Station
software setup and use.
WARNING
AUDIBLE ALARMS WILL ONLY SOUND FROM
THE BASE STATION WHILE BASE STATION
COMPUTER SPEAKERS ARE TURNED ON.
MUTING THE SPEAKERS WILL RENDER THE
BASE STATION ALARMS SILENT. THE BASE
STATION COMMANDER MUST NOT MUTE
THE BASE STATION SPEAKERS DURING AN
ACTIVE EVENT. FAILURE TO MONITOR AND
RESPOND TO AN ACTIVE ALARM COULD LEAD
TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
PAK-TRACKER LOCATOR SYSTEM
The 3M Scott Pak-Tracker Locator System (the Locator System) is a two-part
electronic system consisting of a radio transmitter integrated into the SEMS II Pro
Control Console and a directional, HHR used to locate the signal coming from the
transmitter.
The Locator System transmitter is activated with the PASS alarm. The transmitter
emits a radio signal with a unique ID number that can be tracked using the HHR
unit. The HHR is then used as a directional receiver to assist in leading the rescue
team to the activated transmitter.
By pointing the HHR in the direction of the
strongest relative signal, the rescue crew
can follow the signal toward the respirator
user who is incapacitated or in need of
assistance.
Use of this equipment must be part of a
complete personnel accountability system
that includes procedures for monitoring the
deployment and condition of all users. Do
not rely on the Locator System as the only
technique for locating missing personnel.
Failure to use this equipment properly
may actually increase the time needed
