to locate and rescue personnel. TRAINING AND PRACTICE IN REALISTIC
EMERGENCY SIMULATIONS IS REQUIRED BEFORE USE OF THIS
EQUIPMENT. The users must become thoroughly familiar with the operation and
the limitations of the locator system before entering a potentially hazardous or life
threatening situation.
For more information about using the locator system (including use with a SEMS
II Pro-equipped SCBA, system limitations, and maintenance), refer to the Locator
System User Instructions, P/N 595278-01. Copies of the User Instructions are
available from the company or your authorized 3M Scott distributor.
WARNING
READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS ENTIRE
MANUAL AND THE LOCATOR SYSTEM
MANUAL. TRAINING IS REQUIRED BEFORE
USE OF THIS EQUIPMENT IN A HAZARDOUS
SITUATION. THE TRAINING MUST INCLUDE
AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE LIMITATIONS
OF THE EQUIPMENT AND HOW TO INTERPRET
LOCATING INFORMATION, ALONG WITH
EXTENSIVE PRACTICE WITH THE SYSTEM
IN A VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTS. USE OF
THIS EQUIPMENT MUST BE A PART OF A
COMPLETE PERSONNEL ACCOUNTABILITY
SYSTEM. ALWAYS UPDATE TRAINING WITH
EACH NEW PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. USE OF
A LOCATOR SYSTEM WITHOUT PROPER
TRAINING MAY PLACE THE USERS AT
HIGHER RISK IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS,
WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY
OR DEATH.
RFID PROGRAMMER
The SEMS II Pro Wireless SCBA Telemetry System can be quickly programmed
with the identication of the SCBA user using an RFID Tag, Badge, or Button.
Programming the ID Tags and PASS device allows the organization to customize
the identication of the SEMS II Pro-equipped respirators users.
For more information about RFID tags, see the Scott Connect Congure
Instruction Guide available within the Scott Connect Congure software application
(Congure). Programming an RFID tag requires an RFID Reader/Writer (P/N
200734).
3M recommends re-programming with the RFID card in accordance with your
organization's procedures to ensure that the user's unique ID number is in use at all
times.
WARNING
PROGRAMMING A PASS DEVICE USING A RFID
TAG, BADGE, OR BUTTON OVERWRITES THE
PAK-ID FOR 24 HOURS. IF THE SCBA IS USED
WITHIN 24 HOURS OF PROGRAMMING WITH
AN RFID TAG, BADGE, OR BUTTON, THE NEW
ID IS TRANSMITTED TO THE PAK-TRACKER AND
TO MONITOR. AFTER THAT TIME, THE PAK-ID
DEFAULTS TO THE ID SET USING CONFIGURE
AND THE PAK-LINK PROGRAMMER. IF NO ID
WAS SET, THEN THE ID DEFAULTS TO THE
FACTORY-SET ID.
ID ICON APPEARS DURING
PROGRAMMING
WARNING
DO NOT USE AN RFID TAG READER THAT HAS
AN OUTPUT POWER GREATER THAN 6 WATTS
WHILE IN A FLAMMABLE ATMOSPHERE.
