Chapter 5 - Changing RC-IGCTs
in 3/5 MVA Phase Modules
1 Follow section
4.2 Removing a Phase Module
until the phase module
has been extracted from the cabinet.
The phase module can remain on the rails for replacing an RC-IGCT.
2 Loosen the hexagon fastening bolts (12) (see arrows in
Figure 5-1
) of
the RC-IGCTs and pull out the two retaining rods.

3 Slide the clamp pressure loading gauge (attached to the side of the
phase module, see
Figure 5-1
) under the clamp ring of the pressure
adjusting bolt and loosen the bolt to release the clamp pressure of the
stack.

4 Pull out the faulty RC-IGCT.
5 In case the new IGCT is not fitted with retaining clamps and guides
(see
Figure 5-3
) remove these parts from the faulty IGCT and mount
