Reversion to an asynchronous operaon
Device electrical reset
Premature triggering of the elecve replacement indicator
RF ablaon risks may be minimized by:
Programming a nonrate responsive, asynchronous pacing mode prior to the RF ablaon procedure
Avoiding direct contact between the ablaon catheter and the implanted lead or device
Posioning the ground plate so that the current pathway does not pass through or near the device
system, for example placing the ground plate under the paent's buocks or legs
Having a programmer available
Having external debrillaon equipment available
Electronic Arcle Surveillance (EAS)
Advise paents that Electronic Arcle Surveillance/An-the (EAS) systems such as those at the point of
sale and entrances/exits of stores, libraries, and banks; or tag readers that include radio frequency
idencaon (RFID) equipment such as those used for access control, asset tracking, animal
idencaon, and vehicle immobilizers, emit signals that may interact with the device and inhibit or
cause abnormal pacing. To minimize the possibility of interacon, advise paents to simply walk through
these areas at a normal pace and avoid lingering near or leaning on these systems.
